The Nanotech Mysteries:

an initiation into the science and the technology

Nanotechnology is an unruly, hurly burly sort of thing still in the process of becoming. Being defined in both scientific (insider) and public (outsider) imaginations, the word is accruing meaning in different domains.

While nanotechnology is being defined, scientists in laboratories situated in businesses, educational institutions, and government agencies are making discoveries in a dazzling array of specialties intended for use in applications ranging from medical devices to furniture to clothing to cosmetics, etc. It is expected that the impact of all this activity will be felt in economics, politics, health, and more on a global basis.

The Nanotech Mysteries wiki is designed to be both an initiation and an invitation. Reading this material will, by turns, seem easy, difficult, frivolous, overly technical, fictional, and back again. The wiki is meant for people who link ideas together in an unorthodox fashion..Section titles are not always what they seem and navigating with the links between pages and with the tags offers more prespectives on the wiki's content. Not meant to be a purely passive experience instead, it is both 'muscular' (all iniiatitions requrie effort) and cumulative (initiations allow you to accumulate and add new knowledge about a special topic and/or  yourself).

There are other sources of nanotechnology information. Wikipedia offers excellent essays on nanotechnology and related topics. As well, a search can produce references to written materials that stretch from highly specialized scientific research to legal perspectives to policy issues to activists's concerns to public engagement exercises to funding and investment practices.

Like nanotechnology itself, this wiki is  a work in progress and a joint project. You are invited to add comments, pages, information, art, sound, or other material about nanotechnology.

Finally, this is a nonfiction wiki so footnotes and references are included. .
